Shortly after my last post, my life kinda kicked into high gear…
– Family reunion in Florida to celebrate my grandma’s 85th birthday
– My sister-in-law’s Bachelorette Party in Miami
– Attended Coney Island Mermaid Parade – far more nudity than you’d expect, too graphic to post pics here
– Served on Jury Duty
– Started eating fish and seafood (after being vegan for 5 years)
– My brother’s wedding in Boston
– My last trade show trip in Las Vegas
– Changed departments within my company, starting a whole new gig – now in charge of E-commerce, Social Media, and Digital Marketing, while managing our Customer Service team
– Attended the Decoded Fashion Summit here in NYC
– Halloween shenanigans
– Holiday season travel (made extra fun with city life and no car)
– Ringing in the New Year
After all that, I was left with a bit of an emotional hangover to say the least. Bummed I wasn’t able to find as much time as I’d have liked to draft new posts, but tried to come up for air with each step and snap a pic. Enjoy a quick recap in Instagram shots below:

Birthdays are a time for celebration, time with close friends, and a bit of self-indulgence. I celebrated my birthday this past Friday through Monday. Yes, I took off the Monday following my birthday because what better indulgence is there than time off from work? From a bit of shopping, to dinner out, to exploring the city, to a little spa time, I can happily say I’ll be returning to work on Tuesday with a bit more pep in my step…and a few new goodies to enjoy for Spring 🙂 Enjoy my birthday weekend in Instagrams below:
Or so the saying goes 🙂 Today marks the end of my 3rd week at my first full-time job, post-college. My wonderful work-fam at Andrew Marc hired me as their new Sales & Marketing Assistant after interning in the Marketing department for 6 months. Phew! I thought I’d never see the day I have a salary + health benefits. They didn’t waste any time either—I came back to the team in the midst of fashion industry chaos: Trade Show season, planning our next #NYFW runway show, planning in-store events…13-hour days don’t even begin to explain the amount of planning that goes into these things!
That being said, you can almost assume what I’ll say next. Yup, you got it: this is an ever-changing blog with my ever-changing life. As always, feel free to drop me a line—I always love to hear from you ladies and gents! But know, it may take me a lil’ longer than usual to get back to you (I tend to neglect my laptop after working a 10+ hour day. Can you blame me?).
It took me a bit longer this year to really pinpoint what I want to attempt to change over the course of the next 12 months… I toyed with a few initial ideas:
∞ Stop, Breathe, Notice the Stressor: an attempt to de-stress my life a bit by pinpointing the triggers
∞ Drink More Water—doesn’t everyone say this?
∞ Think LESS: stop over-thinking, nit picking, over-analyzing, etc. ENJOY LIFE…yeah, I should probably keep this one, lol.
Ultimately, though, I want to de-clutter my life. It started once I moved from DC to NYC. I gave away/sold/donated over 3 Hefty trash bags’ worth of clothes, shoes, jewelry, and accessories. That put 2 things in clear perspective for me: 1.HOLY SH#* I waste a lot of money on clothes I don’t wear too often, and 2.HOLY F*$% I own way too much shit for someone my age. Moving into a studio apartment seemed like a death sentence when I was in D.C. Hell, even when we signed our lease here I was apprehensive because of the lack of closet space. Since last June I’ve come to realize that you just don’t need all that STUFF. Of course I’ve still shopped after we moved, but I’ve been smarter about it…because I had to. I’ve made an agreement with my boyfriend to tell him every purchase I make, otherwise he’ll just call me out on it and tickle me into submission. Yes, you read that right. Tickling is my weakness. I simply f*$%ing hate it.
In an effort to de-clutter my life ASIDE from my closet, I’ve also opted out of certain things. The biggest one? Twitter. Ah, yes, it feels SO great to no longer be a member of a social community that gives me more headaches than pleasure. Buh bye “Dolce & Gabana have tweets for you”. No…they don’t. Liar. PEACE OUT CUB SCOUT!
Have a happy new year ladies and gents. What positive changes are you going to make in the new year?
Well, its happened again…as if that’s any surprise. This time, it was a pair of fabulous footwear: Stuart Weitzman’s Reserve Boot to be exact. They first stared me down me from the tabloid pages last year, taunting me from A-listers’ tootsies to the DC elites strolling through Georgetown. I knew I needed to have them. Their practicality alone was a green light, but the devil is in the details: Slick black Nappa leather, a short stacked heel, elastic goring at the back, and a sexy over-the-knee style screamed my name from the moment I laid eyes on them. The perfect way to make mini-skirts more Fall appropriate, leggings-and-oversized-sweater more office appropriate, and a “luxury shoe price” more appealing to my bank account.
By far the most expensive pair of footwear I now own, this purchase purely plays into my opinion that you should splurge on classic pieces. Items that you know will be worn time and time again should be of good quality to withstand the frequent abuse of pounding pavement, rubbing arms on the subway during your morning commute, and transcend trends. Yes, over-the-knee boots may be a trend right now, but I love them for the practicality that “If it covers more skin, it keeps you warmer.” And what’s better than keeping you warmer andlooking chic?
One last note: you may be wondering why the heck I chose to shoot this post solely in my Nautica plaid shirt and the featured boots. Well, you know I love you, but…eat your heart out,Kate.
